This is one of my favorite videos on youtube. New York may look nicer but there has been so much culture lost with gentrification.

It was our own little piece of hell I remember coming over from Belize thinking we were "finally in the states" and having this image of "living the good life" only to come to more poverty and harsh conditions what politicians did to us back in the 80's was criminal! Buildings falling down on every block! Squatters in every abandoned building which were also on every block we literally played in grubble as children and the crime was out of this world I got deported back home in 94 when I was 18 after I did my bid I can honestly say although it was the way it was I miss the BX

I want this to be the next GTA. Liberty City 1977 it could be a spin off prequel of vice city an they could have the 77 blackout in the game... Get busy Rockstar I gave you a million dollar idea for free 😇

That's my city and my era, as fucked up as it looked there was and will always be something special about it. As a Puerto Rican growing up in the Bronx i can say we made a mark on that city and our unity in that time was incredible. That's my concrete jungle!

Who remembers when they opened up the fire hydrant and used a can in front of it to stay cool on a hot summers day. Love the Bronx never been to a place like it ever since.

When rap was an art form that didn't encourage deviant behavior.

I was the only Asian kid in the 70's & 80's that hung out and went bombing trains with Puerto Rican & black kids. I was accepted by then because we all were the same.

Why does the old NY look so much better then NY today... to me that's weird. Its like there was more creativity, now a days technology has taken over in so many forms

back when NY had an actual real culture... not hipster weirdos and 10,000 different types of immigrants .... 70s 80s 90s NYC was mainly irish italians jews american blacks n puerto ricans, crack n burnt out buildings vacant lots, disco salsa freestyle n old RnB n hip hop, breakdancing n graffiti, danger creativity and community.. philly and newyork in the 80s kinda reminds me of dat kids show sesame street

I visited that place so see my aunt in the 80s, it was crumbling, run down, and gritty, but full of things.
